Au Sable River smallmouth

A friend of mine, Kelly Neuman, in Michigan guides the Au Sable River and numerous other northern rivers, plus the Huron shoreline. Here is the biggest Smallmouth of the year. Caught on flyrod on 8/13/09.

There is a video of that pig that he posted on Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/6345650

The video is long, the beast smallie is at the end (skip to about the 8:30 mark to see it). According to the video he said it went about 24" and weighed between 6-7 pounds.

Kelly Neuman - - He is a friend of a guy I work with in Dayton. Small world. We have talked for a couple of years about going up to fish with him.

That would be a good idea. Kelly has been a good friend of mine for several years. He's a great guide. I swear he could find fish in an oil tank.

If the Erie tribs are blown out next weekend, I may be headed up to see him.
