1) Smallie-Stravaganza: The INSA Annual Get-Together: This celebration serves many purposes; name recognition for the group, a way to get our members together for friendship and information exchange, and most importantly, the primary way for the INSA to generate income to support our many initiatives. A buffet style dinner, a huge raffle, and special speaker presentations highlight this event. Watch for more details coming soon about this great event happening this fall!
2) Working to improve Indiana smallmouth fishing!: All extra monies generated from the "Smallie-Stravaganza" as well as membership donations are utilized toward work on conservation related projects that benefit Indiana smallmouth fisheries and habitat, or that help the INSA further its message and relationships with both the recreational angling public as well as the resource professionals who manage our waters.
These cover a wide range of initiatives and every corner of the state. Just a few examples of what we have already done, thanks to your support:
- Donated $2000 to Tippecanoe SWCD in support of a CWI grant which was awarded, allowing us to start the installation of 20-30 acres of buffer strips along several sections of the Wildcat Cr.
- Sponsored and/or attended several state watershed conferences hosted by groups including ILMS, NALMS, and the Rivers Institute of Hanover College thereby gaining widespread exposure for our group and its initiatives.
- Supporting our states future smallmouth anglers by volunteering at the State Fair Fishing Pond (IDNR) and donations to Toys for Tots (Westside B&T).
- Aligned in association with other Indiana conservation groups including FOWR and IWF.
- Strong voice in support of IDNR's newly adopted specialized smallmouth regulations on Sugar Cr. and the Blue R.
Your membership donation is critical to helping us continue to help our smallmouth waters. The more members supporting us, the more we can support smallmouth initiatives in Indiana. But we can't do all this without your help and support!
